DESCRIPTION:We are excited to run a National Kloofing Meet in Loskop\, Limpopo\, to share this passion with everybody. We have opened a number of kloofs in the area\, some are commercial and easy to access\, while others are more off the beaten track. There is also the possibility of facilitating a group who want to descend a 178m free-hanging abseil\,which is also in the area. So\, we welcome everybody from beginners to the very experienced. We plan to base camp at the Loskop Kloofing & hiking accommodation\, which is the adventure base in the Loskop Dam area\, also very central\, and the most affordable in the area. This is approximately a 2.5h drive from Johannesburg. DESCRIPTION:We will spend the weekend camping at Steenboksberg\, Bainskloof. The first property owned by the MCSA\, and has been declared a Natural Heritage Site. It includes Bailey’s Peak in the Limietberg range and a beautiful valley with idyllic camping\, a shelter and pools\, and a great diversity of flora. SUMMARY:Smalblaar technical kloofing (abseil)\, Du Toitskloof
DESCRIPTION:This is an opportunity to do the stunning Smalblaar kloof\, a mossy green canyon which flows all year round. It starts with an exquisite narrow canyon section\, which eventually opens up to reveal a majestic vista. As you make you way through the canyon you will descend 6 beautiful waterfall abseils and do jumps ranging between 2 m and 14 m. The abseils vary from easy to slightly wild and the jumps are not compulsory. The walk-in and walk-outs are short: 5 to 20 minutes. \n\n\n\nThis normally costs R 1650 pp but club members only pay R 550 pp. \n\n\n\nPeople must bring their own lunch\, helmets and harnesses. It has moderate scrambling and a breathtaking knife edge and ledge against the Felixberg cliffs. The plan is to start in Donkerkloof and finish at Olive Glen farm. DESCRIPTION:Meet on the TM road under the Bluegums at the start of the zig zag path to the Saddle at 7:30 AM and bring Morning tea and goodies as we will be down by Lunchtime. \n\n\n\nSaddle Ravine is beautifully wooded and involves some easy rock scrambling so participants need to be sure footed and have a head for heights. Tea will be either at Saddle Rock or at the Pulpit depending on weather (i.e. wind). Pace will be easy (slow). \n\n\n\nDo not contact the convener who will be there no matter what and if the weather is unsuitable we will do an unthreatening Devil’s Peak contour path circuit. DESCRIPTION:he MCSA Stellenbosch section is hosting this year’s Western Cape Joint Meet in Du Toit’s Kloof over the weekend of 1 to 3 November 2024. \n\n\n\nWe have a variety of activities planned in the Du Toit’s Kloof valley over multiple days\, however the majority of the meets are planned for Saturday\, 2 November 2024. \n\n\n\nThe MCSA Du Toit’s Kloof hut will be used as a base camp.
