SUMMARY:Nigramoep Slackpack Trail
DESCRIPTION:Day one. Welcome and arrival introduction at Nigramoep Slowliving Guest Farm. Drive to Nigramoep’s base camp in the canyon\, book in at base camp. Dinner served in marquees tent. \n\n\n\nDay two. Hiking starts from base camp onto an old gravel road between rocky hills adjacent to the canyon\, quiver trees waiting for the early rays of sunhine. Hiking from there onto an old jeep track leading you into Casnou se Kloof ravine. Gradual descent surrounded by rock walls\, rock pools\, wonderful flora and fauna captivating you with its beauty. Casnou se Kloof exits into the canyon. Hike back to base camp. \n\n\n\nDay three. Hiking starts at base camp after breakfast with the luring attraction of the canyon’s mystical beauty calling one to enjoy the ochre rock faces\, mini amphitheatre\, rock pools\, plant life\, the majestic black eagle and klipspringer. Return back to base camp after hiking. \n\n\n\nDay four. Hiking starts from base camp onto an old gravel road in a south easterly direction with a gradual incline towards the Nabap ravine. Open vistas showing off the surrounding mountains\, klipspringer\, the black eagle and Richtersveld type flora with the Schaapriver Canyon beckoning one on the distant northern horizon. Turn onto an old jeep track with babiana’s laipeirousia silenoides\, brunsvigia herrei\, cyanella orchidiformis and many more painting a pretty picture along the way. A viewpoint stop to enjoy the vista of the beautiful Nabap ravine and the Schaapriver canyon. Hike down into the ravine on an old jeeptrack. Hike next to rock pools\, ficus cordata\, the Namaqua tree\, tylecodon – botterboom into the Nabap valley with striking rock faces to be seen\, winding towards the final natrowing portal of the Nabap. The portal is graced with high ochre rock walls and rock pools along the way leading back into the magnificent Schaapriver Canyon. Hike back to the base camp. \n\n\n\nDay five. \n\n\n\nHiking starts from base camp onto old gravel road ascending at a relatively steep incline with wonderful views of the canyon from the top\, turning onto a jeep track graced with beautiful plant life and flowers\, descending into Myn se Kloof ravine another spectacular ravine with rock pools\, striking ochre rock walls\, fauna and flora. Hiking out of Myn se Kloof into the Schaapriver canyon\, back to the base camp. Day five ends at the base camp. Bubbly is served before dinner to celebrate the hike. \n\n\n\n*Base camp consists of a marquees tent where breakfast and dinner is served at set tables and lunchpacks provided\, as well as a charging station for cellphones etc and a coffee and tea station\, hot camp showers and toilets. Fire pit under the stars area. Ribstop canvas sleeping tents with stretchers and mattresses – 2 stretchers and 2 mattresses per tent. DESCRIPTION:This is an opportunity to do the stunning Smalblaar kloof\, a mossy green canyon which flows all year round. It starts with an exquisite narrow canyon section\, which eventually opens up to reveal a majestic vista. As you make your way through the canyon you will descend 6 beautiful waterfall abseils and do jumps ranging between 2 m and 14 m. The abseils vary from easy to slightly wild and the jumps are not compulsory. The walk-in and walk-outs are short: 5 to 20 minutes. \n\n\n\nThis normally costs R 1650 pp but club members only pay R 600 pp. \n\n\n\nWhat you need to bring: \n\n\n\n1. Harness \n\n\n\n2. Helmet \n\n\n\n3. Cow Tails/2 x slings \n\n\n\n4. Carabiner x 2 \n\n\n\n5. Closed shoes that can get wet \n\n\n\n6. Packed Lunch (ziploc/tupperware – sandwiches\, dried fruit\, nuts\, chocolate.) \n\n\n\n7. Swimming costume \n\n\n\n8. Sun Cream \n\n\n\n9. Hat for sun \n\n\n\n10. Windbreaker/rain jacket \n\n\n\n11. SUMMARY:Swarttobie hiking trail
DESCRIPTION:Located about 4 hours from Cape Town near the small farming community of Koekenaap\, the Swarttobie Trail is a unique 4 or 5-day coastal slackpacking hike covering 42-55 km of virtually untouched shoreline. This is a true wilderness experience offering remote beaches\, dramatic cliffs\, marine life\, and spectacular wildflower scenery (in season)\, as well as the rare opportunity to pass through a diamond mine area not open to the public. \n\n\n\nThe trail includes rustic overnight camps at some points with firewood and water supplied. All other gear (tent\, bedding\, food\, cutlery\, etc.) must be brought along. We transport your main luggage to each overnight spot\, so you only carry a daypack while hiking. DESCRIPTION:Brisk hike on Paarl mountain\, this will include Paarl rock\, Gordons rock\, Bretagne rock\, Groot Waboomkop all the overhangs/caves along the way\, including the Bat cave and Arbor cave\, Xmas camp\, Oukraal and the Waterfall. Start and finish at Hout street Paarl. Will mostly be hiking on gravel roads but there is a short B-grade scramble on Gordons rock and some bundu bashing.
